This fast and easy but creepy redrum = murder room works best in a small hallway or transition room like a porch or entryway. If you can play horror movie soundtracks like Halloween Theme or Jason in this room it really sets it up for creepy without a lot of work to it.

Step-by-Step Instructions:
#1 - Take a white flat sheet big enough to cover your doorway completely (top to bottom and width) and either staple along the top of the door jam (on the top edge, not the wall. You have to get up on a ladder or stable chair to access it.
#2 - After you have secured the sheet, cut in a similar fashion to the haunted mansion curtains seen here. Long strips cut at different widths and sizes from bottom to top. You want occasional pieces to be missing so it gives an open feel so guests know they can pass through.
#3 - Repeat step #2 on the other entrance or exit way to this room.
#4 - Put a red light bulb in each lamp and or overhead light fixture. No candles are necessary for the display to pop but a few placed here and there can also work too.
#5 - Hang a mirror prominently in the room, porch or hallway and write "REDRUM" on the wall opposing the mirror at an angle using red lipstick or black lipstick to finish off your display. Place it so you can see the reflection in the mirror as your guests enter or pass through the room.
